BACKGROUND

United We Stand: Civility, Citizenship and the Constitution was born in the aftermath of a meeting of fourteen Orange County leaders representing business, labor, education, media, law, both major political parties and others who came together to consider two issues facing our nation – the declining levels of civility and civic literacy. Recognizing that how we treat each other as fellow citizens and how we understand our form of government and responsibilities as citizens are foundational to our success as a government of, by and for the people, UWS:CCC was conceived.

UWS:CCC represents the purest form of self-government – a community, acting as a community – shouldering the responsibility for its own success.
